Our chestnuts ripen in late October and are the freshest chestnuts you can buy for the Holidays. Our chestnuts are very sweet because they are grown in the cool climate of Northern Michigan.

We are going nuts picking-up chestnuts - October 12th, 2026
The chestnut harvest is about 40% complete and the nut quality and quantity has been outstanding. Thank you to all those who came to our first Open Orchard and chestnut U-pick event ever! What an outstanding day. If you are interested in scheduling a private U-Pick, call Abby at 517-740-1551. Otherwise, everyone is invited out for our second and last Chestnut U-Pick on Saturday, October 17th. For details see this link. Open Orchard and Chestnut celebration. We also will have have organic fruit from our farm, chestnut trees for sale, grass fed lamb from our farm, hazelnuts, maple glazed hazelnuts, and maple syrup! Ask too about our ginseng root grown on our farm.
Thanks to all those who pre-ordered chestnuts through our on-line store and follow the farm on YouTube. The nuts we are harvesting are curing in our cooler (sweetens the nuts). We still plan to start shipping during the last week of October.
The harvest on the Labor Day cultivar is largely complete. We are about 75% through harvesting Precoce Migoule and Bouche de Betizac. We have an absolutely colossal number of colossal cultivar chestnuts to pick up yet. Marsol and Marigoule just started dropping. Massard has not dropped any nuts yet but will by the weekend.
Thus far, our friends from Hawks harvested about nearly 400 lbs of Chinese Chestnuts from our neighbors Roger's orchard! Amazing work!
We are very pleased with the nut size and quality. We are very thankful for perfect weather and our new irrigation system.

Our Family Farm Story
Farm Fresh Food from Northern Michigan
Ox Heights Farm integrates family, trees, and animals in a farm ecosystem (Silvopasture). We produce chestnuts, hazelnuts, English walnuts, peaches, lamb and maple syrup.
North Star Chestnuts
Our family planted 9 Chestnut trees in 2016. Now we have 1,000 grafted European Chestnut trees. Our family has grown up in the orchard helping to care for our chestnut trees. Our family now picks up the nuts and ships them directly to you.
