The countdown to fresh chestnuts!-August 9th, 2026
The first chestnut of the 2026 season will hit the ground in about 50 days!
The chestnut burs are easy to see now and are looking numerous. Our rough estimate is that our orchards will produce about 10,000 lbs of nuts this year, Watch our Y-tube channel for a video describing our process for estimating the chestnut crop – hope to have that posted today. The orchard remains green as we’ve received rain about every 4 days and continue supplementing water with our underground drip irrigation system.
The first peaches of the season, The Rising Star, are ripening up and we should be seeing Reliance peaches ripening by next weekend (August 15th). Thanks again for all the pre-orders and look for us at the Rogers City Farmers Market (Friday mornings).
The lambs are about 60 lbs and looking very healthy and happy.
