The countdown to fresh chestnuts continues!-July 26, 2026
The first chestnut of the 2026 season will hit the ground in about 60 days! As the excitment builds, we remain busy keeping the trees in good health by watering them and working to reduce leaf hopper damage to new leaves. In about a week or so, we will start mowing near the trees to start prepping for harvest. We will also be taking our first estimates of the 2026 crop by counting the average number of burs on each cultivar. My initial thoughts are that we are very likely to break the 10,000 lb mark this fall!
For those also looking forward to peach season, we are about 15 days from the first tree rippened juicy peach. Thank you for all the pre-orders thus far. I'm hopeful that we will have 2,000+ lbs this year.
Our 45 lambs are growing well on our abundant green forage inbetween the trees. Each lamb is about 40-60 lbs.
Also looks to be a bummer crop of hazelnuts...
